Indicator Uses

Why are national biodiversity indicators useful to countries?

Indicators are a central part of effective decision-making. They can be used to raise awareness about an issue, to help assess the effectiveness of decisions taken to address it and to put the issue and responses into context. Through all these functions indicators provide an important interface between policy and biodiversity-related science.
This section of the website deals with the usefulness of biodiversity indicators for national decision making, international indicator frameworks which support national indicator development and how national indicators can support global indicators.
